A personal message from Dr Robyn Thompson, Founder of The Thompson Method
Let me start by saying that I feel privileged to have such a wonderful team of certified Breastfeeding Educators passionate about sharing The Thompson Method Breastfeeding Education with you.
For 50 years, I have worked with women to help them overcome painful breastfeeding complications. Many of these women had only just been discharged from hospital!
My aim is that women, like you, will become knowledgeable and empowered so that you can avoid this!
Women are being rushed through the hospital system. There is no doubt about this. And this rapid processing is not in the best interests of you and your baby.
Induction rates are increasing. C-Section rates are increasing. All of this intervention makes breastfeeding more difficult. I encourage you to acknowledge that what happens during labour and childbirth will greatly influence your breastfeeding journey.
When you understand this, you will begin to take on a new, empowered perspective.
My research into why so many women were experiencing breastfeeding complications after being discharged from hospital when women who gave birth at home were not, led me to develop The Thompson Method.
It’s a gentle approach that challenges the outdated, forceful practices commonly taught in most hospitals.
My belief is that The Thompson Method is the key to reducing your anxiety and fears.
My promise to you is that my team of professionals will nurture you and inform you throughout your pregnancy answering questions to increase your knowledge and confidence and reduce your risk of complications.
My aim is to encourage you to be strong, by being informed during pregnancy, empowered during your labour and birth and fully prepared for breastfeeding.
