Already breastfeeding?

Months of preparing for the birth. Very little for what comes after.

Birth classes, a hospital bag, a nursery. Most women arrive at the birth well prepared, and meet breastfeeding for the first time in the hours after it, often tired and surrounded by confusing and conflicting advice.

This guide is a calm place to start, before your baby arrives.

The Thompson Method Breastfeeding Guide for Pregnant Women

Dr Robyn Thompson. A lifetime of midwifery.

Dr Robyn Thompson PhD OAM was a midwife for more than 50 years, in hospital and at homebirth. Ā This unique perspective inspired her to explore why so many women were being discharged from hospital with painful nipple trauma, while the women in her care were not. Ā Her PhD research looked at how commonly taught techniques, and interventions around birth, relate to breastfeeding challenges. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal, and The Thompson Method has helped more than 98,000 mothers and professionals worldwide.
