Build a bond that lasts a lifetime with The Thompson Method
If you are set on breastfeeding because you know it's the highest level of nutrition you can give your baby and you want nothing more than to build that beautiful bond that you have seen other mothers do, maybe friends, maybe family and you want nothing more for yourself and your baby then here's how The Thompson Method can help you.
The Thompson Method is more than just the technique on how to get a good latch. It is that, but it’s so much more. It’s understanding how breast milk is produced so that you have the confidence to trust that your breasts will nourish your baby without fear of low supply. It’s about being empowered to feel that you are in control of your labour, birth and breastfeeding experience. It’s having the knowledge to understand that nipple shields, bottles, teats and dummies (pacifiers) will impact on your breastfeeding journey and so much more.
If you’re serious about breastfeeding your baby, avoiding pain from latch issues, low milk supply and you want to avoid reflux, colic and an unsettled baby; If you have flat or inverted nipples, large breasts, small nipples, or are concerned that your baby may have a tongue tie; If you want to breastfeed but feeling anxious, The Thompson Method Breastfeeding Course will help reduce your fear and increase your confidence and help you uncover your full potential as a breastfeeding mother.
This is not your everyday antenatal or breastfeeding course that you’ll find at your local hospital or health clinic. The Thompson Method is evidence based education that will reduce your risk of painful, damaged nipples and other common breastfeeding complications. And while there are many health professionals locally and online, they’re NOT teaching what Dr Robyn Thompson teaches in this program.
Join the Thompson Method breastfeeding course with thousands of other mothers today to avoid pain, be fully prepared for your birth and breastfeeding journey and build a bond with your baby that lasts a lifetime
What exactly is The Thompson Method?
The Thompson Method is a gentle, evidence based method towards a gentle birth and pain-free breastfeeding experience. It was created by Dr Robyn Thompson, a midwife with over 45 years experience who was awarded a PhD for her research into why so many women were being discharged from hospital with painful nipple trauma and other breastfeeding complications such as engorgement & mastitis.
The Thompson Method challenges the forceful breastfeeding techniques, linked with painful nipple trauma, that are commonly taught in most hospitals. It’s for ALL women who want to breastfeed, but particularly those giving birth in the hospital system because it offers a gentle alternative to help women AVOID the most common and painful breastfeeding complications.
But it’s more than just the technique on how to get a good latch. It is that, but it’s so much more...

Less than 15% of women are exclusively breastfeeding at 6 months, and many feel forced to give up due to painful complications.
So why is it that many women are able to avoid or overcome breastfeeding complications by using The Thompson Method?
Simply put, it’s because of the gentle approach based on my PhD research and 45 years experience as a midwife, that is respectful to you and your baby as unique individuals.
I’ll be frank with you.
My role is not to tell you what to do.
No, my aim is to share my information with you, so that you can make informed decisions.
Even in unexpected situations.
Why is this so important now?
Because women are being rushed in, through and out of the hospital system and it’s impacting on their breastfeeding journey.

I have said before that in our hospital system, women and my professional colleagues working within the system are at risk of becoming Victims of the System.
Now, more than ever before, evidence based information is the key. And when you understand that the events that occur during your labour and birth, greatly influence your breastfeeding journey, it will make much more sense.
I do acknowledge that there are times when intervention is necessary, and this is when our hospital system is at its best.
But when intervention is recommended unnecessarily, say for the convenience of some individuals or because of hospital policy, it often creates a cascade of intervention… increasing the risk of further intervention, increasing the need for opiate pain relief and ultimately increasing the risk of painful breastfeeding complications.
If you want to breastfeed and reduce the risk of the common complications, I encourage you to consider the Thompson Method Breastfeeding Course.
With some gentle guidance from my team and I, you can gain the knowledge from one reliable source to make informed decisions with confidence that are the best interests of you and your baby.
I look forward to supporting you as you prepare for your pain-free breastfeeding journey.
To your success,Dr Robyn Thompson

What Inspired The Thompson Method?
With the unique perspective of working both in the hospital system and with women who chose to give birth in their homes, I found myself asking “Why were women being discharged from the hospital system with, in some cases horrific nipple trauma, when the women who gave birth at home were not?"
It was this question that inspired me to review the commonly taught breastfeeding techniques and the anatomy of the breastfeeding baby.
This led to 7 years of research for which I was awarded a PhD and ultimately led to the evolution of The Thompson Method where I now spend my time helping thousands of pregnant women, who would like to breastfeed and breastfeeding mothers avoid or overcome painful breastfeeding complications such as nipple pain, mastitis, and engorgement.
