The Order of Australia Medal
Dr Robyn Thompson, PhD was awarded the prestigious Order of Australia Medal in recognition of her contribution to Midwifery and breastfeeding research.
Since being awarded a PhD for her research into why so many women were being discharged from hospital with painful nipple trauma, Dr Robyn, an experienced Midwife and breastfeeding specialist, set out on a mission to improve breastfeeding outcomes for mothers and babies.
Her aim has always been for a woman to gain the knowledge and confidence to trust her maternal instincts, because "they will never be wrong".
Since Dr Robyn Thompson passed away in January 2025, her legacy lives on in The Thompson Method and the passionate team of Midwives, IBCLCs and certified Educators, led by her daughter Joanne Thompson.
